WHAT ARE YOU STUDYING AND/OR WHAT ARE YOUR PROFESSIONAL AMBITIONS?

I’m currently completing my PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Ottawa.

WHAT ARE YOUR PASSIONS, INTERESTS, AND HOBBIES?

I have a great passion for reading, research, drawing, music, art-based therapies, video games, LEGO building, and photography. I have two cats, Buddy and Oliver, who are my pride and joy.

CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH BRAIN-BASED DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES?

I was born at 25 weeks weighing 1 pound, 6 ounces. I have mild right hemiplegia cerebral palsy. I’ve had physiotherapy and other forms of treatment. I’m very independent, although I’ve slowly come to learn that it’s human to ask for help sometimes. While some days are more difficult than others, I think it’s crucial to persevere and know that it makes us stronger. Whatever our differences, they shouldn’t stop us or others from being treated with compassion.
